The white-water stretch of the Loisach river between Grainau und Garmisch-Partenkirchen is known as one of the most beautiful, but also most difficult stretches in Germany, or perhaps in Europe. The Loisach river enjoyed international acclaim when the world championships were carried out here
in 1985, 1998 and - more recently - in 2004.
