Hiking in paradise
Strollers, hikers, mountaineers and rock climbers, all will find paradise in and around Grainau, the Eibsee lake and the Zugspitze mountain.
Rise early and climb a mountain to enjoy the majestic panorama of mountain tops in solitude. Inhale the fresh mountain air. After your climb, you can relax on the sun terrace of a mountain hut or a restaurant or cafe in the village. Or enjoy a picnic you took along in your backpack at a pretty spot of your choice. The Zugspitze region has always been a popular meeting place for hikers and rock climbers. You will find more than 100 km (60 miles) of hiking trails of varying inclines that lead you through the alpine landscape around just Grainau. Enjoy breathtaking views, some just a few feet above the roofs of the village.

Rock climbing and other alpine adventures
Go gorge hiking, rappelling, rock climbing, climb up a "ferrata" (a rock climb with cables, ladders and steps anchored in the rock to provide a secured climb), perhaps to the top of the Alpspitze or Zugspitze mountain. You can go on your own, have a guide show you the way or take lessons. All within walking distance from Grainau
