The Eibsee was formed by a huge landslide around 4000 years ago and has seven islands.<\/p><p>The Eibsee is considered one of the most beautiful lakes in Upper Bavaria, and not without good reason. A footpath takes you around the lake for about 1 1\/2 to 2 hours. The Eibsee Hotel and its lakeside restaurant and kiosk are located directly on the shore. The Zugspitzbahn railroad station and the station of the new Zugspitze cable car are just above the lake.<\/p><p>In the summer months, the average water temperature is\u00a0<strong>approx. 17\u00b0<\/strong>. In the Middle Ages, it provided the water supply for the nearby Werdenfels castle ruins and has been a popular excursion destination since the 1930s.<\/p><p>On the north bank is the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/pflegersee.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">Pflegersee mountain inn<\/a>\u00a0and on the eastern bank is the lido with a kiosk and rowing boat hire.<\/p><p>The water temperature is between 18\u00b0 and 22\u00b0 in the summer months. A dirt track leads to the beautifully situated moorland lake Geroldsee. A circular hiking trail with a length of 22 km leads around the<a href=\"https:\/\/www.seehausen-am-staffelsee.de\/see-inseln.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">\u00a0Staffelsee<\/a>. Rowing and pedal boats can be hired during the summer months, and fishing is possible from mid-May to mid-October. Between the neighboring communities of Murnau, Seehausen a.Staffelsee and Uffing, the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.staffelsee.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">Passenger ship MS Seehausen<\/a>.
