Zugspitze - Germany's highest mountain

Grainau is the Zugspitz village. As the name suggests, we are located directly at the foot of Germany’s highest mountain, towering above the village with an altitude of 2,962 m. In winter, pristine slopes invite you to ski and snowboard. It is open for tobogganing all year round, on natural snow. And the unique 360° view includes 400 Alpine peaks in Germany, Austria, Switzerland and Italy in its panorama.

Grainau turns into winter wonderland when the days get shorter. Freshly groomed cross-country trails and winter hiking trails invite you to discover the snow-covered nature. Toboggan runs and the natural ice rink are not just for children. For those who prefer to ski, the ski resorts of Zugspitze and Garmisch Classic are just a few minutes away and the other resorts covered by the Top Snow Card are just around the corner.

Due to regular maintenance work the cogwheel train and cable cars are closed on a couple of days in spring and autumn.
