There are excellent connections from almost all major German cities to Garmisch-Partenkirchen station. There you can change directly to the Bayerische Zugspitzbahn (with destination Hammersbach or Zugspitzbahnhof Grainau).
The train to Pfronten-Steinach stops at the local mountain, where you can also change to the Bayerische Zugspitzbahn (recommended for shorter transfer times). Guests who want to go to Untergrainau get off one stop later.
