After 54 years of service Eibsee-Seilbahn cable car is approaching its final journey
Germany’s highest mountain will have a new cable car by December 2017. During the course of construction work on the new Zugspitze cable car, the existing Eibsee-Seilbahn cable car will only be in operation up to and including Sunday, 2nd April 2017. But from Monday, 3rd April 2017 until the new cable car opens on 21st December 2017, the Zugspitze will still be accessible from the German side using the cogwheel train and Gletscherbahn cable car. For this reason, a new timetable applies to the cogwheel train from 3rd April 2017 onwards. Trains operating between the Eibsee Zugspitzbahn station and the Zugspitzplatt Glacier station no longer run at least every hour, but at half hourly intervals. Operating times of the glacier lift, which connects Zugspitzplatt with the summit, depend on the arrival and departure times of the rack and pinion railway.

Glacier ski area Zugspitze

Snow and ice surrounded by mountains and rock: The Zugspitze provides you a ski area in a superlative manner. In an altitude of about 2600 meters you get 22 kilometers of perfect ski and snowboard conditions. For sure you will enjoy your winter day and have a big smile on your face.

3 ski mountains: Hausberg, Kreuzeck & Alpspitze

There are three connected ski mountains in the Garmisch-Classic area and Grainau: Hausberg, Kreuzeck and Alpspitze. 40 kilometers of snowy pists in an altitude between 700 upto 2050 meters provide a variety of slopes and unique impressions.

The Garmisch-Classic ski area promises alpine ski fun to suit every style, from leisurely to downright ambitious.
