By bus


  • The buses to and in Grainau are the white and blue Eibsee buses. These run between various stops in Garmisch-Partenkirchen and Grainau up to the Eibsee.
     
  • The green buses are the Garmisch-Partenkirchen local buses.
     
  • The Flixbuses from Munich and Innsbruck go to the station forecourt in Garmisch-Partenkirchen. From here the Eibsee bus goes to Grainau.

By train


There are excellent connections from almost all major German cities to Garmisch-Partenkirchen station. There you have to change trains to get to Grainau. You have the option of taking the regional train to Untergrainau station or the Bavarian Zugspitzbahn to Hammersbach and Obergrainau or the white and blue Eibsee bus to various stops in Grainau.
Should you arrive after 8pm or wish to take the comfort of a taxi, these are available just in front of Garmisch-Partenkirchen train station.

    Important:

  • When searching on the DB server, enter Untergrainau as the destination station.
  •     For trains with a stop in Munich-Pasing, it is usually more convenient to change trains there.
  •     You can find your train connection to Grainau here: www.bahn.de

Arrival by car


Coming from the north

Take the A95 freeway to the end.Then follow the B2 towards Garmisch-Partenkirchen.Immediately after the tunnel take the first exit towards Grainau and follow the signs until you are in the beautiful Zugspitzdorf Grainau.

If you’re driving down the A7, continue to its end. It automatically leads you onto the B179. Take exit B187 towards Garmisch/Ehrwald/Lermoos. Then the B23 leads you to Grainau.

Driving down the A8 in the direction of Augsburg, take the B17 via Landsberg am Lech and then the B23. The B2 then takes you to Garmisch-Partenkirchen. Follow the signs to your holiday destination Grainau.

Coming from the South

Coming from the South, take the E533 and then the B2 all the way to Garmisch-Partenkirchen. Follow the signs to Grainau (Mittenwald - Klais - Kaltenbrunn - Garmisch-Partenkirchen - Grainau).

Another option to get to Grainau is via the A12 Inntal motorway.
